Just returned from a December trip to the USA and Mexico, a great opportunity to combine a family holiday with a chance to breathe in more design influences.
From the bright lights and hectic vibe of the East Coast and New York City (with its often bland and standard interior design) to the more traditional art-deco themes of the West Coast and San Francisco with its wonderful cable-cars, there was a lot to think about and inspire. But the highlight of the trip and an assault to the design senses was the distinctive use of tribal and tropical designs and bold use of colour found in a mix of traditional-contemporary interiors in Mexico.
